SEPHORA SHOPPING

With the recent news of Sephora now shipping to UK which I talked about here I thought it was a better time than never to share with you all the things my lovely boyfriend picked up for me the past two times he went to the US. There will also be a drugstore one coming up as my Walgreens list got a little of out hand, they have it a whole lot better across the pond.

The Amazonian Clay 12-Hour blusher's have been on my list ever since they were released a couple of years ago - containing beneficial clay, having a twelve hour wear claim and being incredibly pigmented. First on my list was Tipsy, a mix of orange and pink that just screams summer,  its stunning. The next two were spur of the moment but I'm glad I added them to my list - Blissful, which will be permanent in my Muji drawers come Spring is a beautiful warm pink and Exposed a neutral that works all year round. I'm always on the look out for the perfect under eye concealer and I couldn't say no to Tarte's Maracuja Creaseless Concealer claims, I've haven't give this one a try yet as I have way too many on the go but I shall keep you updated.

One that is different from any other blush I own is Josie Maran's Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée in Coral Oasis a spongy textured, tangerine coloured blush that leaves a stain to the cheeks. If I'd known I was allergic to coconut I wouldn't have gotten this but once summer arrives I'll still give it a good test. NARS can't be shipped over the to the UK but as they are already available over here it doesn't really matter. The reason for picking up NARS Laguna was that at the time Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed and Laura Mericer Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser were out of stock so I decided on getting this as it was something I wanted to try but never got around to picking it up.

I first fell in the love with Sephora's Jumbo Liner when I brought Copper in Barcelona a few years ago, I swatched it on the back of my hand and when I tried to get it off it wouldn't budge. Since then I've added Beige, Brown and Taupe to my collection - a peachy neutral, reddish brown and classic taupe. I'm really impressed with how well these have lasted which is more than I can say about the more expensive Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide On Shadow Pencils which have since dried up and gone to eyeshadow heaven.

SEPHORA NOW SHIPPING TO THE UK

I'm sure you've all heard the wonderful news that Sephora are now shipping to the UK, sweeeet! I will say that if they had done this years ago they would have gotten a lot more people interested in buying Tarte stuff but because they are coming to our shores at the end of March I feel they may have missed out a little. That hasn't stopped me making a pretty big wishlist basket, mainly full of Sephora collection products - its cheaper than jumping on the Eurostar.

There are certain products that can't be shipped internationally like aerosols and alcohol-based products,  which sadly means I wont be getting my hands on Marc Jacobs Beauty's nail polish in Lola any time soon. From what I can tell Buxom was the only brand that isn't available over here not able to be shipped, I had no problem with Boscia, Fresh, Josie Maran, Kat Von D and Koh Gen Do. There is also a list of brands that are available in the UK that are also excluded like Dior, Givenchy, Hourglass to name a few, Temptalia has a full list here.

Are you exited about Sephora shipping to the UK?

SALICYLIC ACID & GYCOLIC ACID

At the beginning of last year I really didn't know much about chemical exfoliators, jump forward a year and I've now got two trusted ones in my collection. Finding the perfect Salicylic Acid (BHA) exfoliator was a bit of mission until I came across this video by Gossmakeupartist where he talked about Paula's Choice products, her range of chemical exfoliators and the fact that they were the correct PH to be able to work properly. What started off with a little trial and error I eventually found her CLEAR Extra Strength Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution with 2% Salicylic Acid toner to be the perfect match for me. Why is Salicylic Acid amazing? Because unlike Glycolic Acid it has the ability to penetrate inside of the pore which helps to prevent further blemishes while helping to heal active ones. An added bonus to Salicylic Acid is that it is a excellent anti-irritant, helping to soothe the skin and calm redness.

With Glycolic Acid I wasn't too sure my skin was keen on it as I broke out whenever I used Alpha H's Liquid gold but since trying Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 8% AHA Gel my skin has loved the stuff. The only manual exfoliation I now use is my Clarisonic Plus which I use on heavy make up days. In the past I've used St. Ives Timeless Microdermabraion Face Scrub which is very gentle and doesnt contain any dreaded Peach Kernels - I shudder at the fact I used to use those. When using Salicylic Acid I don't find it to be as effective as Glycolic Acid is at exfoliating the top layer of skin, so every other night I swap the Salicylic Acid for the Glycolic Acid and my skin tone in left flake free and clear.

The only improvement I haven't seen from using Glycolic Acid is that the marks left over from previous blemishes haven't healed any quicker then they would have without it. I've recently brought a couple of Paula's Choice products from her American website - RESIST C15 Super Booster and RESIST Dark Spot Eraser 2% BHA (they are not allowed to be sold in the EU) to see if they can help with the scaring that's left behind.

Are you a fan or BHA's or AHA's?

TOM FORD | SPANISH PINK

All beauty lovers out there have heard of TomFord Lipsticks. The divine packaging, the engraved 'TF' on the tip that's so pretty you kinda don't want to use it and the fact that one will set you back £36. A lipstick that's reserved for Christmas/Birthday lists, it makes it even more painful that my first taste of Tom Ford make up was a bit of a disappointment.

Tom Ford's Lip Colour in Spanish Pink is a pigmented peachy pink that has me written all over it, a shade that complements my skin tone and I'll happily wear all year round but that's where the praise ends. This lasts only a few hours on me which is understandable giving its creamy finish but then it starts to dry out my lips, leaving them looking a little worse for wear. A lip balm underneath solves the problem but for the price I expected a whole lot better. I thought I was alone on this as most reviews are positive but Kelly at A Blog of Vain Pleasures felt the same so its good to know I'm not the only one. Its a shame it didn't work out but I can see the positive, it saves me from spending £36 on a lipstick in the future - well on the Lip Colours anyway.

Have you tried Tom Ford's Lipsticks?

OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW

Goodbye Sweet Style Beauty hello, Like Laces*

For some time now I've wanted to change the name of my blog so last week I finally bit the the bullet and did it. A big reason for the name change was that I wanted to include some lifestyle posts, a chance for you to get to know me better and for me to share the things I get up to with my family (son & boyfriend) from time to time. Also as the person who is usually behind the camera hopefully I can learn to be a bit more confortable in front of it.

I also want to say a massive Thank You, to everyone single one of you that reads my blog, leave comments and are overall supportive. I appreciate every single one of you and I'm very grateful that you stop by. Writing may not be my strong suit but talking about beauty is, I could go on for days. This still is a beauty blog, I love everything about beauty - I think I freak my friends and family out with how much I love this stuff. At this time I'm hoping to get out a good four/five posts a week as there are a lot of things I want to share my thoughts on.
